The Silver Minnow — Pinot Gris 2020

Picked from a block in the North Western corner of the famous Langhorne Creek region of South Australia

Rich loamy soils over limestone give up a beautiful aromatic generous white wine suitable for immediate consumption or further enjoyment over the next 2 to 3 years properly cellared.

“A mid-weighted and highly textural gris. Drawing on the complexity that 40% barrel fermentation bestows, notes of nashi pear granita, quince, ripe apple and jasmine are galvanised by a judicious meld of oak and phenolics. A creamy core of leesy nougatine provides a well-judged counterpoint. Flavour, balance and versatility in spades.”
91 points, James Halliday, 2020.

Try it with a sensational Pad Thai or Turkish stuffed aubergines “Karniyarik” (See Rick Stein’s From Venice to Istanbul for inspiration!). Failing that, a nice lightly spiced piece of dory fillet with capers and tomatoes! Tasting heaven.

Colour: Brilliantly clear with fresh green tints.

Nose:  Complex pear and apple, nuanced with allspice and subtle almond cream.

Palate: Delightfully rich entry, with an intensely flavoured mix of pear, apple and creaminess. A portion of wild yeast fermentation in second use French Oak contributes to an expansive roundness and depth, leading to an elegantly long finish, supported by fresh acidity.

Technical:13.5% Alc, pH 3.21, TA 6.2 G/l
